Go Getter

So I have a total girl crush on Sandra Bullock's awesome job in The Proposal! I think it would be incredible to work for a powerhouse publishing company one day, always being challenged by new material and ideas. Hopefully my wardrobe would be just as cute as hers :)

Faith

Our pastor has made some really moving sermons lately. This week, he focused on a very simple truth: If my faith isn't compelling me, then it is something else. So simple, so true. I have really reflected on this statement the past few days. It's so easy sometimes just to let myself stay in a rut, to feel sorry for myself, when really this is just the consequence of not being actively faithful in the One who made me. This gave me something to think about, and something I hope to carry with me!

A Moment Captured

All during the engagement and the week preceding the wedding, I told myself that I would never want to forget the moment the doors opened on the big day, seeing Tyler waiting for me at the end of the aisle :) This was definitely one of my favorite moments of that special day, one of the most tender of my life!

Current Read

I am currently reading A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (thanks to Amber's suggestion)! I highly recommend this book, which tells the tale of young women in Afghanistan. Though the characters may not be real, I'd imagine these sorts of experiences are very real there. Signing off now to curl up with the book and some hot tea! A lazy Sunday evening to you all :)

Blessed

Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.

Wow, where to even begin! I think as of lately with all the weddings, girl talk, and unconditional support our group shares, I have really come to reflect on how blessed I am to have such great friends. We have been through so much together; heart breaks, joyous celebrations, uncertainty and facing life's challenges.

This weekend was Holly's bridal shower! Shelbo and I enjoyed lots of girl talk over several hours of driving cross Texas. It was so wonderful watching Holls as she embarks on this exciting chapter of her life.

I find so much comfort and joy, knowing that these girls will be by my side (maybe not physically) for the rest of our lives. Many fun and special memories to come!!

Simple Start

It's hard to believe that it's now 2010. I must admit, I've never been a big believer in New Years resolutions, probably because I know that I could never keep one. While in the past, I've used this as an excuse to just continue on like nothing changes, this year I have decided to set some goals for myself, and for a better 2010.

Life after the wedding has really allowed me to slow down and reflect some. While I've always been comfortable with my very fast-paced life, this year will be about something different! My goal is this: I want to pray about the direction of my future. I find that I'm one to let my thoughts go wherever the wind may blow, and while this allows a lot of fun and imagination, I know these thoughts are not grounded in my Creator. I struggle with the classic young professional thoughts: what direction is my career heading, do I want to go to grad school, or do I want to drop everything and pursue a dream job (not even sure what that would be at the moment!) I know I won't have it all figured out this year (what our 20's are all about I've come to believe), but I know that prayer will send me in the direction of happiness! I hope this year brings you fresh perspective and new beginnings!

New York, New York!

New York is definitely one of my favorite cities! Talk about a place you could never get bored. Tyler, my folks and I headed to NYC the day after Christmas for a continued holiday celebration. We had a blast viewing the store windows for Christmas, taking a stroll through Central Park and enjoying great food! Tyler and I really enjoyed an afternoon discovering the big city on our own. We visited NYU, hole-in-the-wall bars in Greenwich Village, and the shops in SoHo. New York was a great place to experience all the excitement of the holidays. Hope everyone had a magical holiday season!
